Who is this course for?

This qualification is designed principally for those handling and/or preparing food within a retail environment. The trainee’s role may include the handling of wrapped food or the handling (or preparation) of unwrapped food, including food subject to temperature control requirements.

Practical Benefits:

You will gain valuable food safety skills and knowledge to enable you to be a safer retail food handler, production operative and diligent team member in terms of preventing outbreaks of food poisoning.

Course Description

This food safety for retail course is brought you by HRD Services Belfast in conjunction with CIEH The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. The cieh Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Retail course offers students the opportunity to explore topics such as:

Safe food production and good manufacturing practices, hygiene, pest control, temperature control, kitchen layout, safe storage, HACCP principles and much more...

Description of activities/exercises:

You will complete workbook activities exploring the key considerations for food safety in the retail sector through viewing multimedia and interactive learning presentations, reading textbooks and researching/studying food safety and hygiene concepts and models using reliable websites online. All provided through the centre for your convenience.

You will complete a short exam after a period of study in the classroom or through distance and online learning.

Learners have a choice of home study, by distance and online learning or in the workplace at a time that suits. This is a short programme usually delivered over one day with a 40 minute “multiple choice” exam at the end of the day or on completion of a short study period.
