Who is this course for?

The NEW 12 Credit Pearson BTEC Level 3 Education and Training Award is an excellent accredited train the trainer course for those already delivering training or aspiring to be a trainer/further education teacher. The revised qualification replaces PTLLS and is normally delivered over a 3.5 day period, making this programme accessible for anyone with flexibility in employment.

You can enrol anytime on the Education and Training Award programme by online and distance learning. The only difference with the online and distance learning approach is that your tutor is not there with you in the classroom as such. Your tutor is available however, during normal office hours Monday to Friday to answer any questions by e-mail, or through the learning management system chat facility.

All the resources including PowerPoint presentations, interactive learning modules, e-books, word templates and links to relevant websites for research purposes, are present in the system. All you have to do is set aside a few hours each week studying the resources and preparing responses to the assignment tasks.

Locations and modes of delivery:

This Level 3 Education and Training Award Course is available through training classes each month, online or work based learning from our centre in Belfast Northern Ireland UK and open to everyone worldwide.

This is the replacement for the 12 Credit PTLLS Level 3 and 4 Qualifications.

Interested candidates should note the old 6 credit and 12 credit PTLLS qualifications are disappearing from the QCF in 2014.

Course Description

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 Education and Training Award is a 48–hour qualification consisting of a 3 units. This qualification is available at Level 3 and provides a basic minimum standard for all those entering the profession of teaching and training.

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 Education and Training Award offers students the opportunity to explore areas such as:

Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training

Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training

There is also a requirement to plan, deliver and evaluate a micro-teaching session for this qualification. Your tutor will guide you through the process irrespective of whether you are a classroom based or distance/online learner.

Description of activities/exercises:

You will complete workbook activities exploring the the role, responsibilities and relationships associated with teaching and training, legislation in education and training, record keeping and assessment techniques, session planning and reflective learning, through viewing multimedia and interactive learning presentations, reading textbooks and researching/studying adult teaching concepts and models using reliable websites online.
