NOCN Level 3 RQF Award in Education and Training – Train the Trainer Courses in Northern Ireland

The Award in Education and Training (AET) is an initial teacher training qualification formerly known as Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).

The Regulated Qualifications Framework’s (RQF) NOCN Level 3 Award in Education and Training is the first step to working in adult education and training environments, such as being a facilitator in an organisation, a self-employed trainer, or working for a charity, either online or in a classroom.

The AET is an accredited, train-the-trainer-type qualification that covers roles and responsibilities, inclusive teaching, and assessment.

You will learn about the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, understand and use inclusive learning and teaching approaches, and understand assessment. The majority of assessment criteria are knowledge and understanding requirements; however, a microteach of 45 minutes is required for the practical aspect. Workbooks must be completed to the awarding body standards. Formative feedback will support learners in successfully completing their work. The formal observation of performance will involve peer and self-assessment.

Common terms for this qualification are Train the Trainer, AET L3, L3 E&T Award, PTLLS L3, and L4 PTLLS.
